Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Laundry Hand. The Laundry Hand is responsible for sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, and distributing laundry items according to established protocols and procedures. The role ensures that laundry operations are efficient and that all items are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and quality.

The roles and responsibilities of this position include:

• Sort laundry items based on fabric type, color, and washing requirements.
• Load and operate washing machines according to specified instructions and settings.
• Handle stained or soiled items according to pre-treatment procedures.
• Transfer washed items to dryers and set appropriate drying cycles.
• Remove items from dryers and ensure they are thoroughly dried.
• Fold laundry items neatly and prepare them for storage or distribution.
• Iron and press clothes, linens, and uniforms as required.
• Ensure that all items are wrinkle-free and presentable.
• Sort and distribute cleaned laundry items to designated areas or individuals.
• Ensure that laundry carts are stocked and organized.
• Operate and maintain laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and irons.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and biohazard materials.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Keep track of laundry supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory is low.
• Address any inquiries or concerns regarding laundry services in a professional manner.
• Maintain accurate records of laundry processed, including special requests or issues encountered.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laundry area.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as wiping surfaces, sweeping floors, and disposing of trash.
• Complete any required documentation or logs as directed by the supervisor.
• Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
• Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
• Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.

Experience and Qualifications Required

• Successful completion of Form 6 level
• Ability to operate laundry equipment safely and effectively.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Good organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Basic understanding of different fabrics and appropriate laundering techniques.
• Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy loads.
• Previous experience in a laundry or similar role preferred but not required.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
