Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Manager Facilities. The Manager Facilities will oversee the management and operations of all physical facilities of Aspen Medical. This position will provide oversight and responsibility for the buildings, grounds, parking lots, equipment, building systems and housekeeping; ensuring that facilities are fully operational, safe, clean and neat, as well as prepared for services and hospital activities. This position will also provide oversight on the maintenance/repairs for the hospital building, furniture and fittings and general equipment (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, etc) and property.

The roles and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Serve as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Manage and perform all work related to the maintenance and repair of facilities (including but not limited to building inspections, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, landscape, waste management and security).
  • Schedule and coordinate work with outside contractors as necessary.
  • Ensuring that hospital facilities are well-maintained and conducting proactive maintenance.
  • Ensuring that facilities meet compliance standards and government regulations.
  • Overseeing any renovations, refurbishments, and building projects.
  • Purchase and maintain supplies and equipment on an on-going basis.
  • Implement, monitor, and follow policies and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and provide efficient use of labor and materials.
  • Work with appropriate government agencies to ensure that buildings are safe and meet current code requirements. Must be familiar with and ensure compliance of OHS regulations and building standards.
  • Maintain expenditures related to the building, facilities, and grounds repairs and maintenance in accordance with the approved budget.
  • Work with Executive Director Non-Clinical to assist where required.
  • Work with Management to report problems, solutions and projected costs associated with projects not approved in the budget and provide input on the development of the annual budget.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent professional level experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or equivalent related functions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors and team members
  • Great time management, organization and prioritization abilities
  • Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of OHS and other environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management
  • Must be a well-organized, detail and customer (internal and external) oriented self-starter
  • Strong procurement and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of the Health Services Industry
  • Mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems would be desired
  • Experience in the delivery managerial services in a multi-site organisation with a diverse range of operations.
