Transport Officer

Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Transport Officer. Under the supervision of the Director Non-Clinical Services, the Transport Officer is responsible for coordinating, organising, allocating and keeping accurate records of vehicles and maintaining an efficient transport system for Health Care Fiji.

The roles and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Ensure the assigning of vehicles with drivers and all transport requests are effectively facilitated.
  • Prepare quarterly returns, monthly management report for all vehicles.
  • Prepare Fuel Reconciliation report and ensure timely fuel and maintenance payments
  • Ensure that all running sheets are properly filled (i.e.; dates, mileage and destination, initial)
  • Provide Accident report in case of Accidents (i.e.; police report, Statement, Pictures)
  • Ensure that Vehicle Log Book is updated, daily inspection of vehicles
  • Comply with and support the HCF policies and activities including workplace health and safety, service improvement programs/activities
  • Conduct periodic visual and physical inspections of all vehicles to determine their status in accordance with regulations; Recommend replacement as necessary
  • Implement a preventative maintenance programme for all vehicles
  • Ensure that vehicles are serviced and repaired as per maintenance schedules or according to specified instructions
  • Ensure that all vehicles are serviceable and roadworthy
  • Ensure that pre and post inspection are carried out by the staff on a daily basis
  • Coordinate and dispatche request for vehicles
  • Coordinate driver training/refresher course for all HCF drivers in coloration with the L&D team
  • Allocate the proper rotation of appropriate work and assignments to the staff
  • Evaluate employee performance and coordinate work plans for employees
  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
  • Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • At least 2 – 3 years demonstrate experience in managing assets from any organizational environment
  • Some knowledge in mechanical/Trade will be an advantage
  • Group 2, 5 and 6 license is desirable.
  • Good understanding of the LTA Act.
  • Organizational abilities and the ability to be impartial, confidential and to make firm decisions.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate drivers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage demanding workload and tight deadline.
  • Ability to effectively work within a team with people from diverse backgrounds and communicate with people at all levels and proven term leadership skills and abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Service oriented approach
  • A good working knowledge in Microsoft Office in Particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Good knowledge on vehicle maintenance, cleanliness and transport rules & regulations
  • Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety
