Aspen Medical agrees partnership with the University of Fiji

Aspen Medical has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA) with the University of Fiji, creating a platform for the engagement of
students during their undergraduate and postgraduate studies in health
services.

The MOA was signed on Thursday 16 February 2023 at the Saweni, Lautoka
Campus of the University.

Aspen Medical Fiji CEO Annette Owttrim said, “We are committed to
developing and retaining a well-educated workforce. Both organisations
share a common goal to educate health professionals, provide quality
healthcare and conduct research. We have a responsibility to assist in
developing the next generation of health professionals and we are excited to
work with all relevant education facilities as we strive towards clinical
excellence”.

The University of Fiji, Vice Chancellor Professor Shaista Shameem said, “The
University of Fiji is delighted to partner with Aspen Medical in this wonderful
initiative of having medical and nursing students undertake their clinicals
with Aspen Medical”.

She said the agreement with Aspen Medical opened doors to students of the
Umanand Prasad School of Medicine and Health Science to enable them to
enhance their medical education to a level beyond the normal expectation in
the medical system.

The MOA covers wide engagement including clinical placements, co-teaching
in selected subject areas, leadership training for Aspen Medical team
members by the University, internships, research and related areas in
medicine and health science, she said.
