Donation of a Light Therapy Unit to help save lives of new-born babies at Ba Hospital

A life-saving Light Therapy Unit for the treatment of jaundiced babies has
been generously donated to the Ba Hospital by Ms Nabeedan Mohammed in
the memory of her late mother Mrs Mariatu Mohammed.

The unit will contribute to further uplifting the level of service in the Ba
Hospital Maternity Department.

Aspen Medical’s Acting Chief Executive Officer in Fiji, Mr Gavin Whiteside,
said, “This technology is new to the hospitals in the Western Division, the
machine is very agile and effective, allowing the mothers and caregivers to be
closer to their babies while they undergo treatment”.

He said, “Aspen Medical treasures its relationship with the community and
appreciates all the love and support the two campuses continue to receive
from our amazing local communities.”

The BiliSoft Phototherapy System delivers healing phototherapy that meets
and exceeds the recommendations of the American Academy of Paediatrics.
Gavin continued, “We are honoured to have the community work with us in
realising our goal of providing world-class healthcare to all Fijians for free at
our public hospitals. Ms Nabeedan Mohammed’s generous gift is humbling.”
