Description
Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the Driver position. The Driver is responsible for operating company vehicles to transport goods, passengers, or materials safely and efficiently to designated locations. This role involves adhering to traffic laws, maintaining the vehicle in good working condition, and ensuring timely deliveries or pickups. The Driver may be involved in driving a variety of vehicles, including cars, vans, trucks, or buses, depending on the organizational needs.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Drive company vehicles following all road safety and traffic regulations.
- Ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and the general public by practicing defensive driving and adhering to speed limits and other regulations.
- Transport goods, materials, or passengers to specified destinations according to schedules and instructions.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods as required, ensuring secure and proper handling.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify any issues or potential problems.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and other fluid levels.
- Report any mechanical issues or required repairs to the Transport Officer or Fleet Supervisor promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery times.
- Complete and submit necessary delivery receipts, logbooks, and other paperwork as required.
- Communicate effectively with customers, clients, or passengers, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
- Always represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with all legal requirements for the vehicle class operated.
- Adhere to company policies, road safety laws, and any regulatory guidelines applicable to the driving role.
- Respond to emergency situations such as accidents, breakdowns, or route obstructions, and follow proper protocols.
- Provide basic first aid if required and safe to do so.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, such as vehicle cleanliness, fueling, route reporting, or assisting with logistics planning.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- In addition to the completion of secondary school qualification or similar with a valid driving license classifications 2,4 & 6.
- A valid Defensive Driving Certificate – Level 2.
- Good knowledge on vehicle maintenance, cleanliness, and transport rules & regulations
- Proficient driving skills and a clean driving record.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to sit for long periods, handle repetitive motions, and lift heavy objects if required.
- Good eyesight and color vision for driving and reading road signs.
