Description
Aspen Medical is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the Groundskeeper position. The groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the visual appeal, safety, and functionality of outdoor spaces. Their duties include planting flowers and shrubbery, mowing lawns and communicating with the grounds supervisor to determine their vision for the space.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, covering outdoor furniture with tarps, tying down unsecured items, etc.
- Maintaining gardens and lawns, including mowing, planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides.
- Operating and maintaining garden and landscaping equipment.
- Sorting and clearing of clinical and non-clinical waste for proper disposal.
- Ensure that all tools under your possession are operated in a proper and safely manner in compliance with OHS regulation.
- Effective and timely response to maintenance works and emergency requests of carpentry and plumbing works as per job specifications and in accordance with standard procedures and guidelines.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Successful completion of Form 6 level or equivalent qualification
- 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of gardening techniques
- Knowledge of gardening products such as fertilizers and pesticides
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods of time
- Possess basic experience in carpentry and plumbing work
- Experience as a handyman in a similar working environment
- Basic knowledge of occupational health and Safety at the Workplace
- Ability to assess and provide scope of work for task to be undertaken
- Ability to make accurate estimates of materials for work to be undertaken
- Ability and skills to carry out the assigned duties
- Good communication skills
- Demonstrate ability to effectively work as a team with minimal supervision
Desired
- Knowledge of the Health Industry
- Working knowledge in other trade maintenance areas
