Description

Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the Security Officer position. The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of premises, personnel, and assets. This role involves monitoring surveillance equipment, patrolling designated areas, responding to incidents, and enforcing security policies and procedures. The Security Officer plays a critical role in preventing unauthorized access, deterring criminal activity, and providing a safe environment for employees, visitors, and customers. 

The roles and responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including buildings, parking areas, and grounds, to deter and detect signs of intrusion or unusual activity. 
  • Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and other security equipment to identify potential security risks or incidents. 
  • Control access to buildings and restricted areas by verifying the identity of employees, visitors, and contractors. 
  • Maintain accurate records of entry and exit times for individuals accessing secure areas. 
  • Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or incidents such as theft, vandalism, or disturbances. 
  • Assess the situation and take appropriate action, including contacting law enforcement or emergency services if needed. 
  • Prepare detailed reports on incidents, observations, and daily activities, including any security breaches or safety hazards. 
  • Report findings to the Security Supervisor or management and follow up on any required actions. 
  • Enforce security policies and safety regulations to ensure compliance by employees and visitors. 
  • Assist in evacuations, provide first aid if trained, and participate in emergency drills and procedures. 
  • Provide assistance to visitors and employees, including directions, information, and escorting them to specific locations as needed. 
  • Address and resolve security-related concerns or complaints in a professional manner. 
  • Monitor and deter theft or unauthorized removal of property by employees, visitors, or customers. 
  • Conduct inspections of bags, packages, or vehicles as required by security policies. 
  • Use security equipment such as radios, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems effectively. 
  • Ensure that all security equipment is in good working condition and report any malfunctions. 
  • Attend training sessions on security protocols, first aid, and emergency response as required. 
  • Keep up to date with new security technologies and best practices. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Security Supervisor or management. 
  • Work collaboratively with other security staff and departments to ensure overall safety and security. 
  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures. 
  • Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.  
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.  

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • High school certificate or equivalent. 
  • 1-2 years of experience in security or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience in corporate security, retail security, etc. is advantageous. 
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for report writing and interaction with the public. 
  • Ability to assess situations quickly and take appropriate actions. 
  • Good physical condition with the ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods. 
  • Any additional training or certifications specific to the role, such as fire safety or emergency response. 
  • High level of integrity and professionalism. 
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. 
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals in a respectful and courteous manner.Desired: 
    • Must be physically fit and in sound health. 
    • A clean Police Record
