Description

Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the Systems Analyst – Applications position. This role involves working with healthcare professionals to define and analyse system requirements, and to design and test standards and solutions. This role will ensure that the clinical applications are fully functional, provide technical, analytic, and administrative end-user support through effective communication. This position requires a strong hands-on programming background and demonstrated ability to design, develop, enhance, and support application solutions (including scripts, utilities, integrations, and configuration, where applicable) using structured software development practices.

The roles and responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Define application problems by interfacing with key stakeholders
  • Evaluate procedures and processes
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, implement corrective action procedures and/or escalate to other technical resources as appropriate
  • Develop solutions by preparing and evaluating alternative workflow ideas
  • Manage solutions by establishing specifications
  • Coordinate production with programmers and technical resources, contributing hands-on development and technical implementation activities where required.
  • Validate results using structured data and application testing, including regression and integration testing, and produce test evidence aligned to change management requirements.
  • Conduct scheduled system checks and perform maintenance in accordance with the scheduled outage window, which may involve after-hours and weekend work.
  • Ensure operation by training client personnel and providing support.
  • Be the first point of contact for issues escalated from the helpdesk team for applications.
  • Accomplish information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Design, develop, enhance and maintain application components, scripts and utilities to support clinical applications and operational requirements.
  • Apply secure, maintainable coding practices and standards, including use of version control and appropriate documentation.
  • Perform root-cause analysis across application, interface and database layers, using logs and code/data-level evidence to diagnose issues and implement sustainable fixes
  • Support deployment and release activities by ensuring changes are technically validated and appropriately documented for change control.
  • Plan and execute data migration activities, including source profiling, mapping, transformation logic, cleansing rules, and reconciliation.
  • Develop and run ETL/migration scripts and repeatable migration routines to load and validate data accurately and safely.
  • Perform migration validation checks (e.g., completeness, accuracy, referential integrity, record counts and business rule verification) and document results for stakeholder sign-off.
  • Produce migration documentation including runbooks, validation evidence, and rollback considerations aligned to change management processes.

  • Execute system testing, integration testing, regression testing and support UAT to ensure functional correctness and patient-safe outcomes for clinical systems.
  • Record, triage and manage defects through to resolution; verify fixes and ensure non-regression prior to release.
  • Where applicable, implement scripted/automated checks for regression and data validation to improve reliability, repeatability and speed of validation cycle
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.  

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Degree or Postgraduate in Information Systems/Computer Science
  • Three to five years’ experience in systems analysis, design and development.
  • Software implementation experience: Design, Documentation, Testing, Maintenance, Development Process, Requirements, Architecture
    Strong capability in SQL development and data handling, including building queries/scripts to support application troubleshooting, reporting, integration and validation activities
  • Demonstrated programming background with hands-on experience developing, enhancing and supporting business/enterprise applications (beyond configuration only).
  • Proven experience executing data migration activities end-to-end (mapping, transformation, cleansing, ETL execution, reconciliation and sign-off).
  • Proven experience in data testing and application testing, including test planning, test case development, defect management, regression testing and UAT support.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce quality technical documentation and evidence packs (e.g., migration validation results, test evidence) aligned to change management requirements.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills

Desired

  • Knowledge of the Health Industry and understanding of healthcare applications software and processes
  • Understanding of Project Management, LEAN or Six Sigma
  • Experience supporting application integrations/interfaces and validating end-to-end data flows across systems
  • Experience producing migration runbooks, cutover support documentation, and release validation packs aligned to controlled change environments
  • Experience with test automation and/or scripted validation for regression testing and data migration verification
