Description
Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of CSSD Attendant. This role is responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and storage of medical instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, knowledge of infection control standards, and experience working in a sterile processing environment.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Prepare and operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilization containers.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Inspect and assemble instrument trays, packs, and sets to ensure proper functionality and sterility.
- Distribute sterile supplies to the appropriate departments or units as needed.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking instruments, supplies, and equipment usage and levels.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote proper infection control practices.
- Adhere to safety protocols and protocols for handling contaminated or potentially infectious materials.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the efficient and effective sterilization of instruments for patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on best practices and advancements in CSSD techniques and technologies.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Form 7 and knowledge of infection control standards and practice
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to patient safety
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively work within a team, with less supervision and be pro active
- Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure in a resource constrained environment
- Knowledge of the Health Services industry
- Availability to work long hours/ weekends when required.
