Description

Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Fitter. This position is responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, welding, and fabrication of various mechanical systems and components and requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet project specifications and deadlines. 

The roles and responsibilities of this position include:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to understand specifications. 
  • Assemble and fit mechanical parts and systems using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment. 
  • Install machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans and manufacturer’s instructions. 
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems. 
  • Perform quality checks to ensure systems are functioning correctly and meet safety standards. 
  • Identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently. 
  • Select and apply appropriate welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick welding) based on project requirements. 
  • Operate welding equipment safely and effectively. 
  • Weld components in various positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead. 
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify and fix flaws or defects. 
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools. 
  • Measure, cut, and shape materials using hand tools, power tools, and machinery. 
  • Shape and bend materials using presses, brakes, and rollers. 
  • Assemble fabricated parts to create finished products or structures. 
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any fabrication issues. 
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to complete projects on time. 
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used. 
  • Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures. 
  • Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.  
  • Any other reasonable duties delegated by management

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Trade certificate in heavy plant, machinery maintenance (or equivalent),  
  • Proven experience as a fitter, welder, or fabricator in a similar role 
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, welding techniques, and fabrication processes. 
  • Well versed and knowledgeable in maintenance and repairs of boilers, washing machines, dryers and roller ironers, steam line, suction pumps, incinerators, autoclaves, diesel generators / engines, sterilizers, wheelchairs and beds and general welding works 
  • Experience in mechanical plant operations 
  • To understand and deliver good customer service 
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Requirements 
  • Ability to detect, analyze and solve mechanical and electrical faults and breakdown 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team 
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision 
  • Service oriented approach, with a commitment to supporting the operational / corporate environment of the organization
