Description
Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of the Laboratory Attendant. This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the laboratory by assisting with the preparation, organization, and cleaning of laboratory materials, equipment, and facilities. The position ensures smooth workflow and adherence to laboratory safety standards while supporting the scientific staff.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces.
- Sterilize glassware, tools, and laboratory instruments after use.
- Dispose of laboratory waste in accordance with safety protocols.
- Prepare solutions, reagents, and other laboratory materials as directed by laboratory staff.
- Assist in the preparation of samples and materials for testing and analysis.
- Label and organize samples, ensuring accurate record-keeping and data entry.
- Monitor and stock laboratory supplies, reagents, and chemicals.
- Assist with ordering materials and maintaining inventory levels.
- Follow established safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with ensuring all chemicals and materials are handled, stored, and disposed of properly.
- Support adherence to laboratory safety standards and help maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Assist laboratory technicians and scientists with any ad-hoc duties as required.
- Perform basic administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and report preparation.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- High school F7 or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting preferred but not essential. Training will be provided.
- Basic understanding of laboratory practices and safety protocols.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proactive and responsible approach to tasks.
- Attention to cleanliness and maintenance in the laboratory environment.
- Compliance with health and safety regulations
