Description
Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Manager OHS & Wellness. The Manager Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) & Wellness is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s health, safety, and wellness programs. This role ensures compliance with all safety regulations, promotes employee well-being, and fosters a safe, healthy, and productive work environment.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local or international safety regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analysis to identify potential risks and develop corrective action plans.
- Lead the investigation of workplace incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Design and manage comprehensive wellness programs that promote physical and mental well-being.
- Implement initiatives such as fitness programs, mental health support, and stress management to improve employee engagement and productivity.
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of wellness programs and make improvements as necessary.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate training on health and safety regulations, emergency procedures, and wellness initiatives.
- Monitor and update training programs to reflect changes in safety regulations and organizational needs.
- Develop, implement, and test emergency response plans, ensuring the organization is prepared for any potential emergencies, including fire, natural disasters, or hazardous material incidents.
- Serve as the primary contact for emergency situations, ensuring timely and effective responses.
- Ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations (e.g., OSHA, local legislation).
- Maintain accurate records of workplace injuries, illnesses, and safety audits, and ensure timely submission of required reports.
- Stay current with legislative updates and changes in OHS and wellness regulations, and advise senior management on any necessary policy changes.
- Collaborate with department heads and HR to integrate OHS and wellness initiatives into the broader organizational culture.
- Partner with external agencies, health professionals, and consultants to ensure best practices in OHS and wellness.
- Foster a culture of safety and wellness by engaging employees at all levels in the organization’s health and safety programs.
- Oversee the implementation of ergonomic solutions and adjustments to prevent workplace injuries related to repetitive strain or improper posture.
- Develop mental health programs, including workshops, employee assistance programs (EAP), and other support systems to address psychological well-being.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in OHS, wellness program management, or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices (e.g., OSHA, local regulations).
- Proven experience in developing and implementing wellness initiatives.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze complex safety data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
- Experience with incident management software and reporting systems.
- Experience in the delivery HR services in a multi-national organisation with a diverse range of operations
