Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Supervising Scientist – Haematology and Coagulation. The position is a Supervising Scientist Haematology and Coagulation position at Lautoka Hospital with the further supervision of the Haematology section at Ba Hospital. The position requires to oversee the overall management and development of the Haematology department. These include but are not limited to human resources, inventory control, periodic maintenance of assets and the structuring of workflows to the delivery of timely and dependable results.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Promote ethical behavior and alignment with Aspen Medical’s Social Purpose and B Corp principles.
- Manage the daily Quality Control and Quality Assurance aspects within the Haematology department In Accordance With (IAW) accreditation and reporting requirements.
- Responsible for the effective and efficient application of Human Resources IAW established policies and procedures.
- Maintains Quality Management aspects of the: Operational, Technical and Scientific Staff assigned to the Haematology department.
- Provides technical and scientific advice to: Scientists, Technical staff, Operational and Clinical staff.
- Facilitates educational opportunities and professional development through supervision training and assessment of new staff, medical interns, and students.
- Provides and can apply advanced complex troubleshooting skills within the Haematology department with regards to Haematology and Coagulation platforms and methodology.
- Facilitates the provision of timely and dependable results to Clinicians.
- Provides assistance to the Clinical Pathologist in bone marrow procedures to aid in Haematological diagnosis.
- Ensure client confidentiality and good customer service practice.
- Flexibility to performs duties during and after hours inclusive of weekends and Public Holidays if required.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years of post-graduate experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Haematology in manual and automated: Haematology and Coagulation platforms.
- Extensive knowledge in World Health Organisation Morphology classifications.
- Demonstrated leadership and management abilities.
- Have strong oral and written communications skills.
- Strong Client and Service delivery focus.
- Post graduate studies and or involvement with Haematology/Coagulation interest groups.
- Laboratory Information System experience.
