Description
Aspen Medical is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Infection Prevention Officer. The role is responsible for coordinating infection prevention and control activities across the facility, ensuring compliance with national standards, reducing infection risks, and promoting best practice in infection control to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Conduct daily ward rounds to monitors patient care activities and identify methods, techniques, equipment, supplies or new products that may constitute a risk for originating or transmitting infection.
- Conducts surveillance activities to identify infections including identifying trends, monitoring, and reporting information to staff and heads of departments.
- Conduct one on one staff education on the infection control practices set forth by the hospital.
- Provide feedback on instances of any communicable diseases reported to the unit.
- Assess and evaluate the Transmission Based Precautions set up by the unit staff.
- Reviews microbiological data daily for significant findings and advises appropriate personnel as necessary.
- Provide management and support for staff reporting occupational exposures.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or Equivalent from a recognised institution is preferred but other clinical degree qualifications with IPC experience may be considered.
- Valid annual practicing licence and registration (if applicable to practice in Fiji).
- Minimum of 5 years in an acute hospital setting.
- Sound knowledge of basic nursing principles and clinical practice.
- Good knowledge of the Nursing Act (2011), Scope of Practice, FNC Code of Ethics and Conduct (for nursing background only), Occupational Health & Safety Act, and related legislations.
- Knowledge of Microbiology, Antimicrobial Resistance, and surveillance methodologies for detection of healthcare associated infections.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient or client information.
- Exceptional communication skills both in written and verbal.
- Service orientated approach, with a commitment to supporting the overarching values and goals of Aspen Medical globally.
