Description
Aspen Medical is seeking aspiring candidates for the position of Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and quality care delivery. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. The RN plays a crucial role in patient education, health promotion, and disease prevention.
The roles and responsibilities of this position include:

- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and psychological needs.
- Develop individualized care plans based on patient assessments, diagnoses, and goals.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor patient responses to treatments and medications, and adjust care plans as needed.
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace and comply with instructions given in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Perform nursing procedures, including wound care, IV therapy, catheterization, and other clinical tasks.
- Provide education to patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
- Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and their families throughout the care process.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Update electronic health records (Tamanu) promptly and accurately.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient status, care plans, and treatment goals.
- Identify and report safety hazards, errors, or near misses, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and handover reports.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- Provide supervision and guidance to licensed practical nurses (LPNs), nursing assistants, and other support staff.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure that assigned tasks are completed accurately.
- Keep up-to-date with current nursing practices, evidence-based guidelines, and healthcare advancements.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, including performing CPR and other life-saving interventions.
- Ensure readiness for emergency situations by maintaining knowledge of emergency protocols and procedures.
- Participate in research, policy development, and special projects as needed
- Take reasonable care to ensure own safety and health and that of others and to abide by our duty of care provided for in the OHS policy.
- Any other reasonable duties delegated by management.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized institution
- Hold a valid annual practicing license and registration as a general nurse with the Fiji Nursing Council
- Experience working in a critical care setting such as ED, CCU, PICU, OT, NICU, ICU
- Experience in nursing at a major hospital, community health or similar nursing environment
- Sound knowledge of basic nursing principles and clinical practices
- Good knowledge of the Nursing Act (2011), Scope of Practice, FNC Code of Ethics and Conduct, Public Service Code of Conduct, Occupational Health & Safety Act and relevant legislations
- Exceptional clinical nursing skills with the ability to care for patients using structured approaches within the scope of practice for registered nurses
- Ability to plan and manage the supply of pharmaceutical and consumables
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient or client information
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal
- Service oriented approach, with a commitment to supporting the overarching values and goals of Aspen Medical globally
